Kevin and the ‘Magic of the Mark’

The University of Liverpool Mark Lodge No 1062 held their April meeting on the 28th at The League of Welldoers building in Liverpool. The League of Welldoers is now the home of all the Liverpool University Masonic units.
With the main item of business for University Mark being a presentation of the ‘Magic of the Mark’ for non-Mark Masons, as part of the Lodges continuing membership drive. The Worshipful Master, WBro David Waddington got the meeting underway clearing the business on the summons before ‘calling off’ for the presentation.

WBro Kevin Chicken, Provincial Grand Secretary, gave a very informative talk on the Mark Degree from its origins to the present day, before showing the ‘Magic of the Mark video. Several interesting questions came up in the Q&A session that followed; which Kevin answered with ease.
WBro David Waddington had also developed an excellent paper giving 20 reasons why a non-Mark Mason might benefit from joining the Mark Degree. The Lodge was then ‘called back on’ before being closed.

The executive are always willing to attend a Lodge and give the ‘Magic of the Mark’ presentation, but it is up to the Lodges to put in the hard work of advertising and promoting these events in order to try and ensure a good turnout of non-Mark Masons at the meeting.
Timing is important and the involvement of the Special Rep for group is also an important factor.
Hopefully, the Lodge picked up one new member from the meeting. We wish The University of Liverpool Mark Lodge a good summer and continued success in their drive to attract new members.
